EL SHADDAI: THE GOD WHO IS MORE THAN ENOUGH
After thirteen [13] years of birthing Ishmael and living in self-efforts, the Lord said to Abraham, “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” [Genesis 17:1].
Let us break this down. The Lord said, “I am the Almighty God.” This was the first mention of the word, Almighty, in the Bible. It connotes El Shaddai. God was literally saying to Abraham, “I am the God Who is more than enough. I am the All-Sufficient God.” Abraham was depending on self and human efforts, but God was saying to him, “You don’t need to look any further. I am the God Who is more than enough for you.”
Furthermore, God said to Abraham in the same Genesis 17:1, "...walk before me, and be thou perfect." In simple words, be consistent. This is what God was saying, "Abraham, be consistent with your worship to Me, and you will get everything you need." God was saying, "I am the All-Sufficient One, everything you'll ever need is inside of Me."
Many of us continue to struggle for things, to make ends meet – or to meet up with the pressures and challenges of life. Most time, we do these outside of God. And because we have under-valued God from the start, we get eventually overwhelmed and whipped by the challenges of life. We get held up or stagnated. Many even get delayed in the journey of life because of their unwillingness to depend entirely on the El Shaddai.
God is saying the same thing He said to Abraham to you today, “I am the Almighty. Walk before me and be perfect.” It is this simple: everything will fall in place without stress, when you learn to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Everything will fall in place when you learn to depend on THE BLESSING OF THE LORD than on your human efforts. Everything will become good for you, when you learn to tell your challenges about the All-sufficient God you serve – not telling God about your challenges.
I woke up today and the Lord quickens my spirit with this truth of scripture, “I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” [Genesis 17:1]. When we walk before the El Shaddai and connect to His perfection, everything we’ll ever need will be granted. He will bring to reality the very essence of our being and cause us to live life on earth in our full potential.
God is more than enough for you! All you need to do is walk before Him and be perfect. Don’t add anything to God. He is more than enough. Don’t give room to the devices of the devil; the El Shaddai is more than enough for you.
This is the same reason Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and every other thing shall be added unto you.” He is saying, “Focus on the El Shaddai, and you will discover that He is more than enough for you.”
From today, decide to commit your path entirely to following the El Shaddai. Entirely. He is more than enough for you – always remember that He is more than enough. And because He is more than enough, you must add nothing to Him. You must stick to Him alone.
When you develop this mindset, you get to a point where you can boldly declare, “Whatever the El Shaddai cannot give me, may I never have. Whatever my El Shaddai cannot do, let it remain undone.” We are not saying that some things are impossible for God, we are only declaring that our eyes are shut to everything else and our minds are made up to following Jesus alone as the Way.

The Goodnews is that the El Shaddai is, indeed, more than enough. There is no good thing He cannot give to you. There is no greater height He cannot get you to. There is no such thing as impossible with Him. All we need to do is trust the El Shaddai. Walk before Him and be perfect. Only then will our path shine ever-bright until the day JESUS comes.
Walk!
